Will the fresh faces sworn into the Victorian Upper House make a difference to Government?

Controversial Liberal candidate Renee Heath, a new Animal Justice Party member and four Greens representatives are among the fresh faces elected to Victoria’s upper house.

Dozens of candidate hopefuls cheered or groaned as the final voting count for the Legislative Council took place on Wednesday.

It left the Labor Party with 15 seats – a loss of three since 2018 – the Coalition with 14 and a crossbench of 11.
