John Herron and Hassan Hamka have a lot in common. Both share pain and grief – John through the loss of his daughter Courtney, and Hassan, through the disappearance of his sister, Maryam. Both women victims of violent attackers. But it seems the Victoria Criminal justice system has learned nothing from violent attacks on women like Jill Magher back in 2012, and continues to do nothing to not only change to protect women but affords violent attackers more rights than their victims.
