Former Victoria Police Commissioner, Ken Lay, is one of Victoria’s longest-serving public sector leaders. Last week Lay announced he would be stepping down from his roles as Chair of Forensicare and Ambulance Victoria. But for someone held in such high regard, by Dan Andrews, Lay’s departure from Ambulance Victoria at such a critical time with the Service under continued criticism is bizarre. Lay was also looking at the emergency 000 system. Is Lay’s resignation another Andrews political assassination or did Lay find his position no longer tenable? Or does Andrew’s Drug injecting rooms are a higher priority?
